Glaucoma Drug 'Lumigan' Makes Eyelashes Grow!

A glaucoma drug called Lumigan has been successfully used to treat open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension for years and is now on the verge of being put to an entirely different use. A beauty treatment.

People who have taken the glaucoma drug have discovered that one of the side-effects of Lumigan was that it caused their eyelashes to grow. However, nobody knew if it was safe to use this drug for the specific purpose of growing eyelashes. Now new studies have been successfully completed and when Lumigan is applied using a special applicator to the base of the eyelash, it is perfectly safe to use and very effective at growing your eyelashes.

Lumigan (as a beauty treatment) is expected to receive regulatory approval in both Canada and the U.S. later this year. A big win for thinning eyelashes everywhere, and for drug company Allergan maker of Lumigan.

Beauty Night Society Brings Hope and Beauty To Thousands

beauty night Shouldn't everybody feel beautiful? Maybe that's an ambitious goal or idealistic thinking, but it sure would be nice if more Canadians who needed a helping hand and a boost to their self-esteem could get it.

One of the coolest organizations we recently discovered is called the Beauty Night Society. Beauty Night was founded by award-winning volunteer Caroline MacGillivray in Vancouver, BC and now operates in Victoria, BC, Toronto, ON and is dedicated to helping marginalized Canadian adults and youth by providing free makeovers and wellness programs. How awesome is that?

Beauty Night is a great way to give and make a meaningful impact on someone's life. They are currently actively seeking full charitable status and there are numerous ways to get involved. Beauty Night has given over 8000 makeovers and growing!

The more steps that you can take to protect your skin and keep it from aging, the better.

To Wear or Not to Wear Lipliner, That is the Question

Besides Pamela Anderson, does anyone really wear lip liner anymore?

Well of course you can do what you want, but the point is, is it really necessary?

The main purpose that women wear lip liner is to make their lips look fuller, but you can get a better look with the different products that are available today such as lip plumper, and even just with a bit of gloss.

If you do want to wear lip liner, just make sure that you apply it right.

This means choosing the color and matching it to the lipstick shade well, and you should always start by putting a very small amount of lip balm on the lips to give them a bit more moisture.

Then you want to draw a thin line along the edge of your lips with the liner, starting at the center of the upper lip and working your way outwards.

Then you apply lipstick, coating the lips evenly, and blot to remove excess color and ensure that the texture is even.

Best Makeup Remover

I have been scourging the Net trying to find out what people's opinions are on the best eye makeup remover.

I have had a few products that I liked in the past but I want something different, something more updated and effective.

I heard lots of answers, but one that I finally stuck with was the Oil of Olay Eye Makeup Remover, which does not stink as most eye makeup removers do, but works incredibly effectively.

It removes all of your eye makeup no matter how thick you have coated it out for the night before. It even removes the best waterproof mascara with just a few swipes, and with its affordable price, it is a very worthy purchase.

This is one cosmetic product that I will be keeping in my own makeup bag for years to come, and I suggest that you try it yourself.

Get the Look: Audrina Patridge

I don't know about you, but she is my favorite girl on The Hills...maybe I just favor the brunette because I am one myself, but either way...to get her look it is a very quick and easy process.

Who wouldn't want Audrina's fresh, tanned, youthful glow?

She always has glammed up coal-rimmed eyes that work for day and carry her perfectly into night, balanced out by pretty, fresh colors on her lips and cheeks.

To start, you want to apply a light, sheer foundation, such as the Max Factor Lasting Performance Stay-Put Makeup in the right color for your skin. Not sure how to do this? Go here.

Once you have the skin primed and ready for makeup, you want to begin with the eyes. Audrina likes her eyes in brown, taupy shades, so you want to take a color like Cover Girl Eye Enhancers in Shimmering Sands and, using the darkest color, apply the the lids, all the way up past the crease, stopping just below the brows.

Now take the lightest shade, and blend in just under the brows so there is a touch of shimmer. Take a bit of the first color again and lightly line underneath the lower lashes, just a bit so you do not end up with raccoon eyes.

Remember that the eyes are the focal point of Audrina's look, so you don't want to stop here. The next step is for you to take a black eyeliner, I like the Rimmel Black Magic Eyeliner Pencil in black, and you want to line the top and bottom lashes lightly, and then blend a bit, either with an eyeliner blending brush, a q-tip or even just the tip of your finger.

Now we need to work on the cheeks and lips. Cheeks should always be last, so start with the lips, making sure to keep them simple and subtle. This is the most low key part of the look.

Use a matte pink lipstick like Revlon Super Lustrous in Paparazzi Pink, and then go over this with just a bit of your favorite lip gloss.

Now for the cheeks. To get Audrina's healthy bronzed skin, you don't need to spend hours in the sun. Instead, you can just sweep some Rimmel Natural Bronzer in Sunshimmer on your cheeks.

You don't want to use a lot, and make sure that you sweep on the apples of the cheeks, and then in a "C" shape lightly around the sides of the eyes from the cheeks to accentuate the cheekbones, and then finish off by lighting brushing over the forehead, nose, and chin.

This look is simple but gorgeous, and best of all affordable.
