Color Guide to Perfect Hair

As the seasons are changing, there is no better time than now to change the color of your hair.

There are a few steps that you are going to want to take to ensure that you get just the right hue for your complexion and personality, keeping the trends of the upcoming fall and winter seasons in mind as well of course.

There are a few steps you will want to take to make sure that you come out of this with the best possible results.

Lighter or Darker?

One of the most major decisions you are going to have to make here is whether to go lighter or darker. All colors look great on all people, as long as you choose the right shade, so know that you have a lot of versatilty.

Typically we tend to stick to lighter colors in the summer as it looks more natural, a few sunkissed highlights here and there, and in fall and winter we go with darker, richer hues.

Feel free to switch it up however, and it really all depends on what color you are interested in choosing and which you think will work best for your skin tone.

To Highlight or Not to Highlight

Highlights are a great option. Many people prefer to just stick to a plain, solid dye, but if you want to add a bit of volume to your hair or enhance its length, highlights can be a great idea.

Women with shorter hair tend to look better with full color rather than highlights, but if you have medium-length to long hair, highlights around the face can be very flattering.

Just make sure that you choose a color only a shade or two above your base color, at least to start, so it is not such a drastic change.

Maintenance

No matter which way you opt to go with your hair and what color you choose, proper maintenance is going to be necessary.

Daily, you should be misting damp hair with a hydrating spray such as Aussie Sun-Touched Conditioning Shine Spray, which will keep your hair looking shiny and healthy, and also guard against drying UV damage.

There are also things that you should be doing on a weekly basis, and more than anything this refers to enhancing your hue to keep the color strong and bold.

Choose a fast deep-conditioning treatment such as Clairol Nice N' Easy ColorSeal Conditioning Gloss, which is available for under $5 and offers you outstanding results.

Always use a moisturizing shampoo, and make sure that you do not wash your hair too often, as you will be stripping your hair not only of its chemically treated color but its natural oils as well.

Ask your stylist for more information on this and tips that will help you keep your color looking fab.
