Dress your legs

Picture 14.png A splendid Fall 2008 Trend is the return of the tight. These aren't the leotards you wore in grade 3. Rather, they are soft and silky, with bright colours and funky patterns. And with an average price between about $15 and $30, they're an inexpensive way to brighten up your wardrobe - not to mention, an uncharacteristically practical fashion trend for cold Canadian winters.

How to wear? Pull out those short skirts you thought you were too old for, and pair them with an opaque tight - a solid black tight will forgive a multitude of body issues. Or perhaps a solid black or other dark colour skirt with a boldly patterned tight like this plummy striped sweater tight from Hue. Don't be afraid to blend patterns and colours - as you can see from this slideshow, creativity and pattern blending is very in.

How to strategize the footwear? It depends on the tight. If you're wearing a brightly patterned tight, a solid shoe works best such as a shiny, strappy Mary Jane or even a neat loafer for more of a "schoolgirl" look. Solid tights give you more flexibility, so coordinate the shoe with the rest of the outfit. Boots are a good alternative, but if the tight is the highlight of the outfit, then don't hide it under a tall boot - show it off!

You can find great tights at Hue, and most department stores and specialty legwear stores. Go play!
