If you are like me, you have a lot of hair but it is very fine. I like to keep my hair longer in length, but the problem is with fine hair that it loses even more volume and can be very hard to get body in.
There is a way to do this however, and I will help you through it.
First and foremost let me tell you that although curling irons can give a great look, even with the best hairspray these curls will fall out of my hair within hours.
Hot rollers are great if you want a curly or wavy look, but if you really want volume and body at the roots and throughout the hair, your new secret weapon will be Velcro rollers.
First you want to wash and condition your hair as normal, and then twist it up into a towel. Depending on how fine your hair is, this will determine about how long you should leave the towel on your head.
When you take the towel off you want your hair to be quite wet, but not soaking wet. Now you want to apply a foaming volumizing mousse at the roots of the hair, and blow dry the hair until it is just damp.
Once the hair is damp, you want to put in the Velcro rollers. You do not necessarily have to put them all over the head, but make sure that you place enough of them at the top of the head and at the sides, where you are going to want the most volume.
Now once they are in and secured - they often stay in place on their own but I like to use hair clips to keep them firmly in place so they will not move when you start blow drying - you want to blow dry over the hair until it is completely dry.
As you take the Velcro rollers out, you will see that there is a great deal of volume, almost too much, but that is okay because you are going to be able to fix this.
Now you use a silicone-based cream, just a dab, rub it in between your hands and then lightly comb with your fingers through the hair, to defrizz and polish the look. Now you can back comb the hair at the roots to give it that extra bit of oomph.
This look is gorgeous and will compliment anyone. You can wear it casually on the day to day or spice it up with a rhinestone headband or butterfly clip if you are going out for the night.
Velcro rollers are very cheap and you can find them almost anywhere. I like these Conair Mega Self Holding Rollers, available through Amazon for just $7.80 plus shipping and handling.
