Remedies for Dry Skin

One of the most common problems that women - and men for that matter - deal with during the cold fall and winter months is dry skin.

Dealing with dry skin can certainly be a pain, as not only does your skin feel tight and uncomfortable, but you will find it harder to apply your makeup and dry skin can lead to premature aging as well.

You should know right off the bat, that if you have to cake on the creams just to get results, you are not using the right products. There are some terrific moisturizing products out there that will work, and you can tell a product is of good quality when you only have to use a small amount of it.

To make your winter go more smoothly, here are a couple of my favorite products to fight off that dry skin.

Olay Quench

I have spoken of this product before and love, love, love it. I really just can't get enough of it.

I'm all for the lavish, expensive, miracle-in-a-bottle creams that cost hundreds of dollars but offer great results, but since it's impossible for me - and most of you I'm sure - to afford these on a regular basis, the Olay Quench product is the perfect solution.

It is very effective and yet completely affordable at the same time.

For just around $10 you can get a bottle of it yourself, and you can really notice the results almost the very first time you use it.

Olay Quench goes above and beyond basic moisturization to actually break the cycle of dry skin, so it not only deals with the irritating dry skin that you have now, but also actually prevents it from coming back in the future.

I prefer to use the Olay Quench right after a shower or bath, after pat drying so there is still a bit of water left on the skin. This allows the lotion to penetrate the skin more thoroughly, and the best part of all is that it does not leave the skin oily or greasy feeling.

It is available through most drug stores and pharmacies, including Planet RX for just $6.29.

Protecting Hydrator SPF 25 - Phaze 7 by PCA Skin

This is another fantastic product to help combat dry skin.

A bit more expensive but worth the money, this protecting hydrator is a collagen-free, emollient moisturizer for dry, normal and oily skin.

It deeply penetrates the skin creating a protective barrier, and is not cakey or oily.

It helps to replenish the skin's natural oils and is ideal for hot and dry climates. You can use it all year round without worry, and just a small dab will be enough for the entire body.

The product has actually received the Skin Cancer Foundation Seal of Recommendation, and is available through various retailers, including DermStore for $30.

Remember, these are just two of the many different lotions and potions that work well for dry skin, so make sure that you choose one that works well for you.
