It can be hard to know what to do with your hair to keep it looking healthy and beautiful, especially when you are getting different information and advice from every different angle.
Hair is never more difficult to manage than in cold winter weather, and it is never more dangerous to assault your mane with blow dryers, heating irons, and styling tools.
There are a few things that you can do this winter however, to keep your locks lush and lovely.
One of the biggest mistakes that people make with their hair is shampooing too often, and this is never more treacherous to your hair than during the winter time.
When you shampoo your hair too frequently, you are stripping the hair of its natural oils. Instead, try shampooing only twice a week, and if the roots of your hair do get a bit greasy in between, just pat a bit of baby powder onto the hair in the meantime.
The most important step, as always, is conditioning. You need to condition your hair after every shampoo but also in between with a leave in conditioner.
Leave in conditioners are great for all hair types, just make sure that you use the right one.
They help to act as a barrier between your hair and the elements, and you just need to make sure that you start at the ends of your hair when applying the conditioner and work your way up to the roots.
One of the worst issues that we have to deal with when it comes to winter hair is split ends. The worst thing that you can do is leave your split ends and not deal with them right away, because they will continue to split up the hair shaft and cause even more damage.
To prevent this, make sure that you get in to see your hair stylist on a regular basis, at least every six weeks to get a trim.
Even if you are trying to grow out your hair, you want to keep the ends healthy to maintain lush locks.
